A special screening of a 2016 National Award Winner KOTHANODI (The River Of Fables) WATCH TRAILER https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=7&v=k-jlVdIBBak ABOUT THE FILM Adapted from four Assamese folk tales, Kothanodi (2015) is a dark multi-narrative film about four shades of motherhood - a mother who puts her daughter’s life at stake for her pride; a woman who has given birth, but still isn’t a mother; a mother who makes a stand for her child; and a mother who never wanted to be one in the first place. The film was first premiered in the Busan International Film Festival 2015, and received the National Film Award for Best Assamese film in 2016. ABOUT THE DIRECTOR Bhaskar Hazarika is from Dergaon, Assam. After graduating in History from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, he completed his Masters in Film & Drama from the University of Reading, England. He has since worked extensively in Indian film and television, writing for television shows as well as films. Bhaskar’s debut feature film – Kothanodi (The River of Fables) – has received the Asian Cinema Fund’s Post Production Award in 2015, and has traveled the world since then to festivals such as the Busan International Film Festival, the London Film Festival, the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, and the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles. The film also received the 2016 National Film Award for Best Assamese Language feature film. Bhaskar is presently working on his second Assamese film – Aamis (Ravening).
