Anurag Kashyap's

AAKAAR

Hindi 60 Min | First Staged In 2006

An adaptation of Anurag Kashyap’s Ek Jali Cigarette, Kuch Aakaar Aur Ek Manushya, the play is a tragic thriller portraying our struggle with order. Prima facie, Aakaar is a story of a schizophrenic, Prakaar, who commits a murder in his imagination. The victim of his rage is nobody but himself. Deep down, the play takes us through a mental journey of this tragic character who aspires to break free of the fetters of the established notions (Aakaar) we live our lives by. It dares us to challenge our banal existence in order to enjoy the sweet fruits of liberation.
