Chameleon Actor – a 15-day advanced acting skills training workshop organized by AFTC – started in the year 2008, in association with a group of National School of Drama (NSD) Alumni. Seasoned Actor - Vineet Kumar led the team of 10 distinguished teachers, including Umesh Padalkar, Sanjay Jha, Asif Ali Haider Khan, Mutum Ibomcha, Vijay Kr, Randhir Kr, Vipin Sharma; and guest lecturers – N. K. Sharma and Prof. Devendra Raj Ankur.
It was the first-of-its-kind intensive actor training workshop organized in Delhi-NCR, where the focus was on the new techniques and radical approaches to an actor's craft. The participants were taught to use their physical as well mental faculties to full strength to bring out a precise performance. They discovered how to inject what is called ‘Soul’ into a technically correct portrayal of a character in order to make the performance real.
The overwhelming response that we received from the aspiring, as well as practicing actors turned Chameleon Actor Workshop into an instant success. A similar kind of success was repeated in 2009, the year after that, with Aditee Biswas joining our celebrated faculty of teachers.
Since then, we have taken a breather for we felt the need to reformat the workshop to keep up with the changing need of the hour. We now intend to offer more to our students in terms of knowledge which is ultra hands-on, yet theoretically more comprehensive in nature. The soon-to-be-introduced new format of the Chameleon Actor Workshop will ensure the participants are best equipped to face the real-world challenges in Theatre. So if you genuinely believe you have the actor factor in you, then gear up for the summer of 2012.
